The Armenian Open Sailing Championship, Winds of Armenia, took place this year from September 6-10 in Sevan. Fastex was the main partner of the event.
The Winds of Armenia association aims to establish Armenia as one of the leading sailing centers and to promote the development of this sport in the country. This year, more than 20 teams from Portugal, Cyprus, Estonia, Russia and other countries took part in the championship in the J/70 sailing class. The Armenian team included athletes Gagik Sargsyan, Ando Novikyan, Musheg Barseghyan, and Artashes Dadayan.
The event was held on the most prestigious J/70 class sailboats and the championship was entrusted to a professional group of international judges.
Winds of Armenia was organised by the first sailing club of Armenia, Yacht Club Winds of Armenia, with the joint support of the ESCS of RA, Sailing Federation of Armenia, and Fastex. Akop Simidyan, RA Minister of Environment, also attended this year’s event.
